Cycling by Lake Achensee
Easy cycle paths and
cross-border routes
250 km of well-signposted cycle and mountain bike routes in the Achensee region
The region is a paradise for cyclists. The whole area is criss-crossed by an endless network of cycle paths – along the lakeshores, in the side valleys and up into the higher regions with specially marked bike routes.
The Via Bavarica Tyrolensis is a 225-km cycle path from the Inn Valley to Lake Achensee and the Bavarian capital Munich.
The route opened in July 2004, enabling cyclists to ride from the Inn Valley to Lake Achensee, then along Lake Tegernsee on sections of the “M-Wasserweg” path or past the Sylvenstein reservoir and on through the Isar Valley to Munich, the capital of Bavaria.
